Short definition

Proof of Action is a participation model used in the Connect United / WIN Blockchain ecosystem. It means rewards and credentials follow verified real-world actions — learning, operating infrastructure, completing approved tasks — instead of rewards that follow noise, bots, or unverifiable claims.

In one sentence: show the action, verify it, record it, then distribute according to published rules.

Why the term exists

Most people have heard of Proof of Work (computers race to solve puzzles) and Proof of Stake (capital is locked to help secure a network).

Proof of Action answers a different question: what if participation — doing something the community can check — was the thing being recognized?

In Connect's reference materials, Proof of Action is described as the protocol used to validate activity and distribute rewards around real-world participation in the WIN Blockchain community. It is also called the ecosystem's mantra: participation is rewarded by completing community-suggested and approved action items.

What counts as an "action"

Actions are defined by published rules and programs. Examples described in Connect support docs include:

  • Completing a Learn2Earn lesson cycle (lesson → quiz → action step → verification)
  • Running eligible node software under network parameters
  • Other community-approved action items tied to participation programs

If an action cannot be specified and checked, it is not Proof of Action. It is a story about activity.

The four-part loop

  1. Define the action — what must be done, and by when
  2. Verify it — quiz, form, on-chain check, or other published verification
  3. Record it — often as an on-chain credential or reward record
  4. Distribute — according to rules people can read (including governance parameters)

Miss a step, and you no longer have a clean Proof of Action design.

What Proof of Action is not

  • It is not a promise of profit or investment return
  • It is not the same as Proof of Stake
  • It is not "engagement theater" where clicks alone equal verification
  • It is not a substitute for reading explorers, contracts, and governance docs

How it connects to Connect United

On Connect United, Proof of Action shows up across education and infrastructure:

  • Learn2Earn uses verified learning + action steps
  • Node participation uses Proof-of-Action reward logic described in the WIN Charter
  • Governance (DGF) can set or change distribution parameters through published processes
